Music Health Insurance (Individuals)

With all of the choices available, health insurance can seem impossible to navigate. The most important thing is to find a plan that you understand and can afford.

High deductible health plans (HDHPs) are an easy, straightforward way of getting coverage. These plans include a high deductible (that’s the amount of money you have to pay before the insurance kicks in) but low monthly premiums (sometimes as low as $125 per month). Here is what to look for:

  1. 100% coverage after you have met the deductible
  2. No calendar year or lifetime maximum benefit limit
  3. Compatibility with a Health Savings Account (HSA)

An HSA is a tax-advantaged savings account from which you can draw to pay your health-related expenses. Money is deposited pre-tax, and any money not used by the end of the year rolls over indefinitely.

So what about the times that I do have to go to a doctor? All plans vary, but any decent HDHP will offer you one or two preventive care visits to your doctor or your gynecologist every year. And since you’ll probably be saving $200-$300 per month on your premium, one extra $120 visit to the doctor won’t be that big of a deal.

Goodness that’s a lot of insurance. Is there anything else I should know about? Let’s talk about disability. Disability Insurance

I’m going to go sign up right now! Any more information that I need? Head to the end of this brochure. Congratulations!
